To say just because it had one of the Springfield barrels, it has to be a SA rebuild is a preety big leap of faith. RR's began production with Dulite finish in 1942 and were switched to Parkerized finish in 1944. A geometric-shape proofmark, like a triangle, arrowhead or such, on the front left of triggerguard indicates an M1911A1 made by Ithaca. The safety is a bit different looking than everything else parkerized on the gun, and that could possibly mean the safety is Dulite finish.
An RCD inspector mark or double spacing between the M and 1911A1 indicates manufacture by Union Switch and Signal.
A prisitine example of a government arsenal refurbished 1911A1 Remington Rand pistol. Springfield made replacement barrels for the 19A1. A serial number preceded by a 'NO' instead of a 'No' indicates manufacture by Remington-Rand. The function of the arm cannot be determined as the cosmoline has hardened with age and precludes movement of the slide and interior parts there is no doubt the gun is as-new as arsenal refinished before being stored for the "next war". Description: This is a WW2 Remington Rand arsenal refinished slide. There is one magazine included in the gun and two additional seven round blued magazines, one with remnants of cosmoline and green wax paper wrap adhered to it, the other still as-wrapped from the arsenal there is included a boar bristle bore brush as well. The pistol comes in its arsenal Kraft box as-removed from the heavy green wax paper wrap along with the very seldom encountered plastic weatherproof storage pouch. Since by military specification all parts were interchangeable, the arsenals paid no attention to trying to match mfgs or dates of mfg - they just put guns back together and re-issued them. M1911/1911A1s made prior to early 1941 were originally blued. I believe the upper and lower was done at the rebuilt of 2 1 2 Last. The Keyes Fibre Company grips rate about excellent. This included cleaning and refinishing (parkerizing). So it being a Augusta re arsenal with a umc Remington frame on a colt slide, os there any collector value or just a shooter I wouldnt mind getting it for a fair price but dont want to over pay for it.
